.......and our final production for 2009 is.......

DAME AGATHA’S GREATEST CASE

26th – 28th November 2009

Corfe Castle Village Hall

Can Crustie Crack the Case?!

World famous sleuth, Dame Agatha Crustie, has been invited down for a ripping weekend of huntin’, shootin’ and fishin’ in the country by Sir Redvers & Lady Bertha.  But, so have a whole collection of suspicious, shifty and stereotypical characters, all with secrets and simmering grudges to hide that will inevitably boil over into murder!  The film starlet, the playboy, the politician and the gangland mobster are just some of the usual suspects stalking the apparently peaceful panelled rooms of Blandling Hall.  Can Dame Agatha live up to her reputation and beat her nemesis, Inspector Corner of the Yard, to the solution once again?  Will she succeed in unravelling the tangled web of intrigue and deceit to unmask the murderer before it is too late?  Will the raffle make more money than the interval refreshments?  Who knows?

But, you can find out by joining Double Act at their latest production “Dame Agatha’s Greatest Case” on November 26th till 28th at Corfe Castle Village Hall.  A 1930’ s set comedy country house murder mystery that provides an evening of fun filled frolics spiced up with songs to well known Gilbert & Sullivan tunes, and quite probably a murder or two.  Tickets £7 adults, £4 children with a £5 concession for OAP’s on the Saturday matinee - from Corfe Castle Post Office or the Box Office 01929 480323.

Oh no - you missed it!!!!!

6.30pm - July 21st, 23rd, 28th, 30th and

August 12th, 13th – 2008

Yes, the “original” murder walk was back!  And even bigger and better! The highly acclaimed Double Act Murder Mystery Walks was back in 2008. Once again in association with the National Trust and inside the Castle itself.

It was 1216 just after the death of King John after crossing The Wash and loosing all the royal regalia.  The envoy of the Earl of Pembroke, Mareschal of England, has arrived at Corfe Castle to claim the ancient golden Saxon crown from the treasury there so that the new young King Henry can be crowned at Gloucester .  But all was not well at the castle.  Princess Isabella, John’s niece was imprisoned there, intrigue, lust and greed run rife amongst the many occupants of the castle that had suffered during John’s reign - so there was  a good chance that something nasty might have happened to someone bad for you to investigate and to discover who was the murderer?

An experience that wasn't to be missed!

........and our final production for 2008 was......

MAIN production

27th, 28th & 29th November 2008

“Cinderella”

Yes, it was Panto time again!  Oh, no it wan’t!  Oh, yes it was!

From Dog To Director!

A young Wareham man is set to directed his first production 8 years after joining the cast as Mother Hubbard’s dog!

David Wellstead (19) dirested 2008's Double Act production of Cinderella at the Corfe Castle Village Hall from 27th to 29th November.  David first joined Double Act as a young lad in 2001 playing the impish dog inventively called ‘Dog’ in the company’s award winning production of “Pantomime Pie”.  Since then he has played a variety of roles including Dick, one of the Fab 4, in the Hurrah for the Fabulous Four and a frightening Jacob Marley in A Christmas Carol.

Directing your first production is a challenge for any new director, but particularly for one so young.  David, a gap year student at the time, hoped to use the experience to further his acting and directing career, the next step being to go to college to study drama.

David said, “This is a fantastic opportunity to direct my first production, it is going to be a real test, but I know I can rely on the help and support of the cast to see me through.”

The title role of Cinderella was being played by Cherry Smith who had been performing with Double Act since she was six, and as she will be training to be a vet in 2009, this was her farewell performance.  “I can still remember my first lines,” says Cherry “They were ‘Hey wait for me!’ in the 1996 production of Purbeck Line Up.”

Cinderella was a colourful and spectacular pantomime with many of the regular Double Act favourites in the cast together with some talented newcomers.   Anyone interested in joining the group should contact the Chairman Mike on 480323.
